My Creative Approach
My goal is to help people reach their sewing dreams! I have been teaching sewing for 15 plus years and love it! My head is full of creative ideas and I enjoy helping others get their creative wheels turning. I tell everybody that everyone is creative in their own way and it just needs to be developed! I hope to encourage people along their sewing journey with my new blog.
Another aspect of my business is making and creating handmade items to sell. I love to design and create new things. I especially love picking out the fabric and can envision what each piece is going to. Of course, that means I have bought a lot of fabric over the years and have a large fabric stash from which to create from. I especially enjoy making and designing kid's clothes but also like creating home décor items and clothing for Adults especially dresses. I adore all areas of sewing and I'm constantly learning new skills!
My SEWING Story
I have been sewing since I was 8 years old and hand embroidering for about as long. My Mother taught me to sew on a sewing machine and my Grandma taught me to hand embroider. I was in 4-H since the time I was in 3rd grade and every year my goal was to learn a new sewing skill or technique. I can remember my grandma hand embroidering a candlewicking design (see picture) when I was quite small and it hung on her wall for many years. I, of course, wanted her to teach my how to embroider candlewicking and she did. Several years ago I told her that the one thing I wanted to inherit was her candlewicking hoop hanging. Do you know that she gave it to me as a birthday present unbeknown to any of us about 6-7 months before she passed away? It is a treasure! I will keep it always. After high school I went to work at a fabric store and I have worked in the Fabric Market for 20 years teaching sewing skills and how to use embroidery machines, selling fabrics, and teaching kids till now. I'm venturing out on my own and starting my own business.
